Our verdict
The Ocean Bottle Peak Go is a rigid, stainless steel, insulated bottle built for travel in extreme climates where you want to keep drinks hot or cold for an extended period of time. Because you can use it for hot and cold drinks and it is leakproof and durable, we think it's also a great water bottle for commuting and daily life.
We tested it as our primary travel bottle for three months, including a two-week trip in Scotland, on trains, in rental cars, on day hikes in Colorado, and during everyday use.
It worked really well in hot climates where we carried cold water for a refreshing drink throughout the day. We even carried hot tea on a cold morning in Scotland, and the steel straw was particularly helpful. It has a slim profile, so it fits easily in all standard cup holders in cars and tour buses as well as backpack side pockets. The rubber base makes it very durable, including a hard drop onto stone flooring with no damage. The best part of this bottle is the flexible loop carry that can be hand-held or clipped to a backpack.
The only major tradeoff is that the straw does not hold up well in a pressurized cabin and some water leaks out when opened during a flight, so it might not be best for someone doing a lot of air travel.

How we tested
We tested the Ocean Bottle Peak GO over three months during the summer in Scotland, on trains, in rental cars, and on day hikes in Colorado.
We tested the bottle’s insulation with cold beverages on hot days and hot beverages on cold days. We even filled it with hot tea on more than one occasion, and the steel straw was useful for drinking hot tea without any plastic aftertaste.
After each trip, we tested how easy it was to take apart, clean thoroughly, and pack away for the next adventure. We also tested it in the side pocket of backpacks, sideways in a purse, and clipped to a bag.
We also tested it alongside other water bottles and water filters and purifiers to compare features, like how easily it travels, how intuitive it is to use, and the insulation.
Performance in the field
Packability
The Ocean Bottle Peak GO has a slim profile so it fits comfortably in carry-on luggage, standard cupholders in cars like Toyota Highlander as well as Honda minivans, and the side pocket of backpacks and daypacks like Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack. You can even clip it to a purse or sling using a carabiner (not included) on the soft, flexible bottle handle. We used it both inside a backpack as well as handheld while exploring a city and hiking trails in Cairngorms National Park.
Leakproofness
The bottle is leakproof when placed horizontally in a bag and upside down in the side pocket of a backpack. We even placed it upside down inside a backpack to test out the leakproofness. During that test, no water leaked.
Ease of filling and drinking
It is easy to fill in a hotel sink, which we tested multiple times on several trips, as well as at water fountains in airports.This is due to its wide mouth opening. The flip-top straw is soft and has a fast flow rate. This bottle does not have a chug option, but you can screw off the straw top to access the contents directly.
Portability and carry
At full capacity, the bottle holds 24 oz (and 16.1 oz when empty) and can be comfortably carried all day thanks to the soft, flexible carry loop. It also fits in side pockets of multiple backpacks, like the Fjallraven Fjallraven Kajka X-Latt 45 L, as well as cup holders in cars like the Toyota Highlander and Chevy Malibu.
Durability
Ocean Bottle Peak GO is rugged thanks to its stainless steel construction. We noticed no denting or scratches when packed in suitcases and carry-on luggage. The lid and mouthpiece are also durable, even after months of use across cities, state parks, and national parks, as well as different temperature variations.
Taste and material performance
The bottle has no plastic or silicone taste, even when we drank from it outdoors in extremely high heat (90F), as we encountered during a hike in the Scottish Highlands.There was no odor retention, even after we used it for a warm cup of tea one morning. The straw is also stainless steel, as opposed to the more common plastic straws across other bottles we tested, and can be used with both hot and cold liquids (be careful not to burn your mouth with very hot liquids while using the straw).
Insulation
The Ocean Peak Go Travel Bottle is an insulated bottle made of durable stainless steel which retains the temperature of cold drinks for up to 15 hours. We tested it on a particularly hot day with upwards of 90F and found it to be true. It also has a stainless-steel straw so it can also be used for hot drinks without a plastic aftertaste which we tested with hot tea.
