Liam “Hot Take” Purtle is an outdoor enthusiast from the suburbs of Chicago who currently resides in Salt Lake City, UT. When he is not working at his desk job or writing for Treeline, he loves to push himself out of his comfort zone in any way that he can.

In 2019, Liam successfully thru hiked the PCT. While on the PCT, he was featured in Outside Magazine and the Stories from the Trail Podcast. He has also spoken about his experiences on the PCT at the Patagonia store in Chicago.

Also during his PCT hike, he raised almost $2500 to diversify outdoors focusing on two organizations that really spoke to him. Out There Adventures is an organization that fosters positive identity development and empowerment for queer young people through outdoor adventure education.

Soul Track Outdoors is a D.C. based nonprofit that connects communities of color to outdoor spaces while also building a coalition of diverse outdoor leaders.

Since finishing his PCT hike, he has moved to Salt Lake City in hopes of incorporating his love for the outdoors in his everyday life. He has also picked up many new sports such as road and mountain biking, skiing and most exciting, bowling.
