We have a PSA about your FSA or HSA! But first, some basic information.

Note: this isn't a scam. It's a legitimate use of medical funds. Countless studies have shown that exercise is one of the best ways to prevent illness or reverse chronic diseases.

What are HSAs and FSAs?

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are tax-advantaged savings accounts that allow you to pay for certain medical expenses not paid for by insurance on a pre-tax basis.

FSAs are employer sponsored. FSA funds were traditionally "use it or lose it" by the end of the year–forfeited to your employer. However, the Affordable Care Act changed that, and now account holders can carry over funds from year to year (up to $660 in 2025), provided the employer's plan also permits it. Therefore, anything over $660, or if the employer doesn't allow rollovers, is lost on December 31.

HSAs are only allowed if you have a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), either with an employer or through the Health Insurance Marketplace. There is no expiration date on HSA funds.

Bottom line: Both HSAs and FSAs allow you to pay for eligible medical expenses before federal taxes

Can I use my HSA or FSA to buy Garmin products?

Many Garmin scales and heart rate monitors are eligible for reimbursement without a health assessment. You can even use your HSA/FSA card to purchase items such as:

Which Garmin watches are HSA/FSA eligible?

In addition, certain Garmin fitness and GPS watches are also eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement after a health assessment. Garmin has contracted with Truemed, an HSA/FSA platform, to provide the health assessment at no cost to you. They'll provide a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) if you meet certain conditions. You'll then need to submit the LMN to your plan administrator for reimbursement.

All of our top Garmin watch picks are eligible:

Note: you must take the Truemed survey the same day you purchase the watch.

Are Garmin bike computers or bike trainers HSA/FSA eligible?

Yes! Some bike training products are also eligible, such as:
